Sterett Crane and Rigging has moved nine heat recovery steam generator modules in Kansas using Scheuerle trailers.

The project required Sterett to move the modules, whch weighed between 200t-250t each, from Baxter Springs to Riverton, negotiating several 90º turns.

The company used a Scheuerle gooseneck, an 18-line Scheuerle K-25 towed hydraulic platform trailer, and a six-line Scheuerle K-25 power booster/self-propelled trailer. This combination resulted in minimal traffic disruption during the two-week project, said Sterett, with the capabilities of the Scheuerle trailers and the self-propelled/power booster module enabling the trailer/truck combination -- almost 200ft in length -- to meet Kansas Department of Transportation requirements.

Sterett then used its new Enerpac 1,200t four-post self-propelled gantry system to load out the modules at the rail sliding. The modules were set with a Demag CC2800, after Sterett has used a Kobelco SL4500 to tail them into a vertical position.
