Tadano sees crane sales boost

Tadano has seen an increase in sales revenue from both its mobile crane and truck loader crane divisions in the first three quarters of its fiscal year, from April 1 to December 31 2018.

Mobile crane sales revenue reached ¥74.4bn ($680m), marking an increase of ¥9.3bn (14.4%) compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.

The majority of the revenue increase was generated outside Japan, where sales rose by ¥8bn (19.1%) year-on-year to ¥50bn. The upward trend was also witnessed in Japan were revenue increased by ¥1.3bn (5.7%) to ¥24.4bn.

Sales of truck loader cranes amounted to ¥14.9bn, up 3.2% from the same period in the previous year.

During the same period Tadano’s aerial work platform revenue dropped by 26.8% to ¥12.6bn, while other products by the manufacturer generated 0.5% more year-on-year at ¥23.3bn.

As a group, Tadano’s net sales revenue grew by ¥5.3bn to ¥125.3bn, despite a 2.9% drop in the domestic market.  In North America—the manufacturer’s biggest market outside Japan—sales rose by an impressive 37.6% to ¥40.5bn. In Europe sales revenue stood at ¥19.1bn, up 13.4%. The only region where the group’s sales dropped was the Middle East, a 41.2% decline.
