Two Wolffkran Arabia luffing jib cranes - the Wolff 224B and Wolff 180B - have been involved in the construction of Emaar Developmentā€™s Burj Royale in Downtown Dubai since January 2019.

Main contractors, Al Futtaim Contracting, are due to complete the development in October 2022. The 215m, 58-floor residential tower will offer panoramic views of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain.

Both cranes have working heights of 112.5m, and the second tie-in frame for each crane is installed at 79.95m. The cranes will eventually be climbed to their final heights of 210m, with jib lengths of 50m and 55m for the 224B and 180B, respectively.

As the plot is surrounded by existing developments, the Wolffkran team had to carefully plan the erection of the two luffers to enable safe lifting in a confined space as well as limit the impact on site logistics, residents and visitors to the nearby Dubai Mall.

The use of two luffing jib tower cranes meant that the contractors could also eliminate the use of multiple mobile cranes and reduce the service operational costs.

Wolffkran Arabia coordinates the entire lifting planning operation which allows the company to offer end-to-end lift management including planning of the crane foundation, crane erection operational methodology, anti-collision systems, service, maintenance, spare parts and dismantling upon project completion.
