Sennebogen’s new 6180 mobile harbour crane has made its debut at the Danish port of Vejle. The crane is one of a pair of new models from the German manufacturer which are based on a four-axle mobile undercarriage. All axles are steerable and both inner axles are driven.

The HMC 6180 and the smaller HMC 6120 have been designed mainly for cargo handling, and have two hydraulic winches in the upper structure which are switched together. Winches on the 6180 have 200kN single line pull and 160kN on the 6120.

Both models are all hydraulic and are equipped with lattice booms of between 37m and 48m in length.

The 6180 at Vejle has a 33m boom and can lift 50t at a 14m radius. As well as having a water-cooled 330kW Deutz engine, it also has a 15kVA diesel generator for 12 floodlights on the upper for night working.

Both new models have the operator’s cab on the end of a telescoping device mounted on the left side of the upper, enabl-ing it to rise up to 10m and give the operator a view into the hatches of ships.

As well as a hook, the cranes can be fitted with an electro-magnet for scrap handling, telescoping spreaders for container handling or grabs for bulk goods.

Crawler-mounted versions of these cranes are also offered. These are designated the 6180R and the 6120R.
