Berry Dock West in Corpus Christi, Texas has taken delivery of the world’s biggest E-Crane. It will be used for loading and unloading iron ore into and out of vessels up to 80,000 US ton dwt.

The order was placed via American Crane Corporation’s local dealer, EL Lester, and the equilibrium crane was custom designed and manufactured by Equipment & Machinery Technology International (Indusign-EMTi) of the Netherlands. From placing the order to delivery on site in March took 14 months.

The crane’s maximum duty-cycle rating is set at 24.3t at a radius of 33.4m. Duty-cycle rating at maximum outreach of 45m remains 18t.

It has been supplied with a quick-change device and a hook for lifting duties, giving a lift rating of 29.7t at 33.1m and 22.5t at maximum working radius. A custom made bucket has also been supplied.

The hydraulic movable operator’s cab is located at a minimum of 14m above the ground and can move forwards and up and down to optimise the operator’s view into the vessel.
