CST Transporte, a crane rental business based in Wildeck, Germany, has expanded its fleet by acquiring a Grove GMK5200-1 all-terrain crane from Manitowoc.

The supplier for the new equipment was KranAgentur Werner.

This addition comes as CST Transporte continues to invest in its lifting capabilities, further building on a fleet that already includes a Grove GMK4090-1 model.

The Grove GMK5200-1, which has a 200t lifting capacity, is set to be deployed across various sectors such as construction, precast concrete assembly, and engineering and energy projects.

CST Transporte has stated that its broad experience in these applications influenced the fleet expansion.

A key technical feature influencing the purchase decision was the crane’s ability to carry its full 70t counterweight while moving on site, aiming to reduce set-up times and contribute to jobsite efficiency.

The company also selected an 18m hydraulic bi-fold swingaway jib with the GMK5200-1 for expanded operational flexibility.

The unit is equipped with a working light package consisting of additional LED lighting to enhance visibility, as well as storage boxes fitted to the superstructure and carrier for lifting accessories.

Another element highlighted by CST Transporte was the Grove CONNECT telematics system. This feature is designed to provide real-time machine data, supporting preventive maintenance and improving fleet management.

According to the company, Grove CONNECT helps to simplify and increase the efficiency of communication with service teams.

CST Transporte owner Christian Schug said: “The Grove GMK5200-1 is a perfect fit for our operations. Its strong lifting capacities are crucial for our work in concrete and precast construction, and the ability to move the crane when rigged with a full counterweight provides us with a real efficiency gain.

“With Grove CONNECT, we also have access to important machine data at all times and benefit from significantly simplified communication with the service team — a clear value add for our daily operations.”

Manitowoc, the manufacturer of Grove cranes, provides local customer support in Germany through its aftermarket headquarters in Lagenfeld, supported by a team of mobile service technicians.

In addition to offering crane rental, CST Transporte provides various construction services from planning through execution.

The company’s latest purchase aims to strengthen its provision of lifting solutions to customers across a range of infrastructure and construction projects.
