Modulift, the Poole, UK-based supplier of modular spreaders, was part of a team that helped rig 130m of spreaders to lift letters for a giant “Make Poverty History” sign in Scotland. The sign was erected for a rally held in Edinburgh last month. The letters contained messages, which were later presented to world leaders in Gleneagles during the G8 summit.
Working with Hewden Crane Hire, the spreaders from LGH, Modulift, Lifting Logic, and Brandon Loadtite, with rigging from LGH and Certex, formed four cascading spreader rigs – one each on the three levels, and a 42m long lattice spreader.
Five Demag mobile cranes – four AC50s and an AC120 – lifted the 8m high letters more than 6m above the ground despite the windy conditions.
