The second of the 650t cranes, set to replace the existing 600t CC 2800-1 crawlers purchased by Weldex in 2008, will be delivered in November.
Managing director Dougie McGilvray said: "These latest acquisitions are part of an ongoing investment plan designed to ensure that the Weldex fleet reflects the latest technology and most recent innovations. There is also a growing demand on many projects for cranes that are no more than seven years old.
"The Superlift 3800 was our preferred option for a number of reasons. It was not simply the extra capacity over our existing 2800-1’s, which had given excellent service since 2008, but its lower transport weight and ability to erect longer boom systems unassisted."
