The company is currently working on the construction of a wind farm in Tarfaya, western Morocco. The site will have 131 Siemens turbines once complete, producing enough electricity to power more than 150,000 homes.
Windhoist has previously erected wind turbines across Western Europe and Australia. The company employs 85 staff in Africa, made up of a mix of UK workers and local, subcontracted labour.
Managing director Hugh McNally said: "The wind industry is in its infancy in Africa, but is already showing great potential. Windhoist has been involved in wind turbine erection for nine years, and is pleased to be involved in Africa at this early stage using skills and machinery from our base in Irvine."
