The collapse resulted in the death of two men, Gary Miles and Steven Boatman, and injuries to a third man, David Smith. Parent company WD Bennett’s Plant and Services, which relaunched as Bennetts Cranes in May, pleaded not guilty to the charges, but was convicted at Chichester Crown Court in March. It is to be sentenced at a later date.
Eurolift was also ordered to pay GBP1,000 in costs. It pleaded guilty to breaches of the Health and Safety At Work Act 1974 and Construction (Health Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996.
