TiL hits 5,000, as MCG tours Asia
12 December 2007At a ceremony attended by a swathe of senior Manitowoc directors, and scores of customers and partners, TiL (formerly Tractors India Ltd) sold its 5,000th crane, a Grove-licensed RT630C, to Rajasthan Reliance Industries.
Manitowoc president and CEO Glen Tellock attended the ceremony at TiL's Kamarhatty plant with cranes division chief Eric Etchart and other senior Manitowoc staff as part of a whirlwind tour of Asia, taking in an open day at the firm's new Indian tower crane business in Pune (formerly Shirke, another Indian licensee), a new call centre in China, and Conexpo Asia in Guangzhou. Tellock unveiled the crane, saying that Manitowoc's 40 year collaboration with TiL had always been a source of pride.
Sumit Mazumder, managing director and CEO of TiL said the event was 'yet another occasion where TIL demonstrated its strong customer focused approach and constant quest for quality and innovation enabling the company to sustain its superior position as a customer-partnering organisation'.
The 30 US ton RT630C was presented to Umash Bhandari, CEO of Rajasthan Reliance Industries, one of India's two largest businesses, with interests stretching from construction through to high street retail.
TiL manufactures a range of rough terrains, yard cranes and other material handling equipment, such as lift stackers, often under license from western businesses such as Grove or Luna of Spain. It also sells cranes and lifting equipment from other manufacturers, alongside construction equipment and power systems. The company is based in Kolkata, West Bengal.
