President and CEO Bill Mitchell says that the 20010 has the advantages of a hydraulic extending boom with the manoeuvrability of a crawler crane. Because its crawler base is not restricted by outrigger placement, it can get closer to the load and compete with a 125-ton capacity RT. It has a 128ft boom, maximum tip height of 196ft with jib and inserts, operational weight of 92.5 US tons (84t), including standard counterweight of 20 US tons, and is 643in (16.4m) long by 154in (3.9m) wide by 157in (4m) tall.

Luke Lonergan at Empire Crane, a dealer for both Mantis and Terex, compares the two:

“The difference between a 100 US ton Mantis and a 100 US ton RT is that the Mantis can pick and carry the full load. The ability to pick and carry the load is the biggest plus. With the stoutness of the boom, you can even use it to drive pile. On the other hand, RTs have a lot faster mobilisation on the job site. RTs also generally have a longer boom and are easier to transport.”

Mitchell calls the crane his “best introduction we have ever had.” He is sold out of the crane until 2009.
