The Toledo, Ohio depot of US crane rental company All Erection has taken the first Link-Belt 80 US ton 138 HSL crawler crane. Production of the crane started in September following boom testing. Like the 110 US ton-capacity 218 HSL launched at ConExpo, the crane has wet brakes. It also has a new design of load limiter, cab and counterweight removal. The crane could be used to support oil field work, supporting the mobilization and demobilization of the drill. Easy set-up of the crane is as important as the crane’s load chart, says lattice crane product manager Pat Collins. The crane has a 284hp Isuzu engine.
Link-Belt will launch a crawler crane with a capacity of at least 300 US tons at ConExpo. “We’ll show a crane bigger than a 348 in the desert,” said Collins. No other details were available at press date.
