Hanchard Crane Hire started in March 1997. It’s a family company owned by my wife and myself. My wife is the company secretary, our eldest daughter is the office manager while our youngest daughter works in administration with her sister. We also have a son in law employed as a crane operator.

The company started with a 45t Kato Truck Crane and two dry hire 12t Franna’s, an Australian designed articulated pick and carry crane.

Prior to this I was a partner in a heavy haulage – crane hire company from 1978 to 1990. From 1990 until 1997 I was employed as a manager with a crane hire company with depots in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The main reason our business has grown to its present size is the loyalty of our clients and the people who are employed within the business. We currently employ approximately 60 fulltime employees and the success of the business is down to them.

Our fleet now consists of cranes ranging from Maeda 2.5tm mini cranes to a Grove 5220 (220t capacity), with Kato, Tadano, Demag, Grove and Franna Cranes.

We have updated several cranes in the past twelve months with a Tadano ATF90, 20t Franna and a 25t Franna. A Tadano ATF40 was also an extra addition to the fleet. We are mainly employed in the general hire business operating in the area bounded by Gold Coast to Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba, working with the transport, shipping, construction, and manufacturing industries.

The outlook for additional work in our area is good at present with both infrastructure and private development taking place.
