Dutch crane company Kraanverhuur Tholen has received one of the first Grove GMK4080L all-terrain cranes, a newly launched model from Manitowoc in April 2023. The crane is being used to renovate and expand a residential home in Tholen, Zeeland. Kraanverhuur Tholen is using the crane to lift several large wooden support beams and to lift and unfold hinged roof elements on the timber construction.

Kraanverhuur Tholen owner Jordy Weggemans selected the GMK4080L for its capabilities and versatility. “I was looking for a crane that could access narrow jobsites and handle jobs typically performed by a 50 t crane, with impressive load charts for jobs in the 70 t – 80 t class,” he said. “A long boom is also useful for high-altitude jobs or large radii where we would otherwise need a larger crane. Grove’s GMK4080L had everything we were looking for.”

Grove’s GMK4080L is an 80 t, four-axle all-terrain crane featuring a 60 m boom – the longest in its class – combined with the lowest gross vehicle weight. It can carry up to 5.2 t counterweight while maintaining 10 t per axle and that can be increased to 13.3 t counterweight with a 12 t axle load. Alternatively, it can drive with its full 19.1 t counterweight with a rating at less than 16.5 t axle load.
