In North America the prevailing mood in the lifting and moving industry, as demonstrated at the recent ConExpo trade show in Las Vegas, is buoyant. There’s a vivacious appetite for business which was borne out by the visitor numbers to the show.

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), which organises the event, said ConExpo 2023 ‘crushed expected attendance numbers’ attracting over 139,000 construction (and fluid power) professionals from 133 countries. This was a six percent increase over 2020, with the exhibition space being 10.5% larger than in 2020, too.

In the three snapshot interviews that follow, conducted during ConExpo, tilt up work, warehouse construction, refinery rework, plus road and bridge building are all cited as current drivers of demand for cranes in North America. There are some worries concerning financial insecurity, continuing supply chain issues and potential administrative change but despite this optimism, for now and the immediate future, is riding high…
