The crane itself features a 52m (170ft) six-section boom with Grove’s patented MEGAFORM shaping for greater rigidity and its TWIN-LOCK pinning system
for a lighter design. A 10 – 17 m (33 – 56ft) bi-fold swingaway jib is available, while
two additional 5m (16ft) inserts further boost jib length. A maximum tip height of
82m (269ft) is achievable with the jib attached and, as with all Grove all-terrains, the jib
is able to hydraulically luff under load. The main boom has a telescoping time of less
than 420 seconds.
The GMK4100 can travel below 12t per axle when carrying 6.3t (6.9 US ton) of counterweight, together with the bi-fold swingaway jib, a 16t (17.6 US ton) hook block, and riding on 16.00 R25 tyres. Up to 26.1t (28.8 US ton) of counterweight can be carried. Deliveries will begin in August this year.
Also on display was a 30t (30 US ton) capacity RT530E built in Italy. Production at the new facility, situated in northwest Italy, close to Turin, began in August 2005 and since then Grove has shipped RTs to customers throughout Europe.
The plant at Niella Tanaro employs about 30 people and is currently building RT530E rough-terrain cranes. There are plans to add other RT models to the factory’s product offering in the coming months and to begin assembly work of some of the smaller Grove GMK all-terrains.
The RT530E has a 30t (30 US ton) maximum capacity and a full power boom, which can extend to 29m (95ft). The crane offers a maximum tip height with full boom of 31.2m (102ft), as well as a 7.9m (26ft) swingaway or a 7.9 – 13.7 m (26 – 45ft) telescopic swingaway.
Potain also announced the introduction of a new top-slewing luffing jib crane, the MR 295. As with other Potain luffing jib cranes, the MR 295 is ideally suited to sites where space is limited and meets the challenges of working adjacent to other buildings and other cranes by adjusting the angle of its jib from horizontal to near vertical.
The MR 295 is available in three versions – designated H16, H20, and H25 – with maximum lift capacities of 16t (17.6 US ton), 20t (22 US ton), and 25t (27.5 US ton) respectively. Maximum jib for all three versions is 60m (197ft) and their maximum loads can be lifted out to distances of up to 37m (121ft). The maximum load each version handles at the jib nose differs also – the H16 offers 2.8t (3 US ton); the H20, 2.7t (3 US ton); and the H25, 2.45t (2.7 US ton).
