Liebherr has also extended the smaller end of its truck-mounted tower crane line with a new three-axle model. The MK 63 has a 36m outreach, and can raise its boom to a 45° angle, to achieve hook heights of up to 47.9 m, which Liebherr says is unprecedented in this size class.
It can lift 8t maximum load, or 1.8t to 35m jib-end.
As well as the standard 25m hook height, the MK 63 also has a retracted hook height of 14.6m and three additional jib angle settings of 15°, 30° and 45°.
Liebherr says that erection takes about 15 minutes from arriving on site for the MK 63 to be ready for operation. Tower, lift cab, jib, power generator and complete ballast are all on board and ready for use. Assembly takes place automatically, program-controlled and with the additional benefit of a new type of automatic jib slewing system. As- sembly is now carried out without a single manual manoeuvre.
The new two-part telescopic tower on the MK 63 has a lattice structure. The three-part jib extends with a narrow, high air-assembly curve. This means that assembly can take place above obstacles up to 11 metres in height.
The crane driver has a choice of two other assembly processes – time- optimised assembly and a low-level assembly option for unfavourable wind conditions in particular.
The jib can be shortened from 36m to 26.5m to lift heavier loads (2.85t to 26.5m).
Another innovation on the MK 63 is its integrated teleservice function. The Liebherr teleservice system establishes access via remote data transfer to the databanks of the machine data logging (MDE) and machine data analysis (MDA) systems to help support and troubleshooting.
A new lift cab on the MK 63 has panoramic windows and can be steplessly adjusted in height up to 22m.
Like the four-axle and five-axle mobile construction cranes from Liebherr, the new three-axle unit draws on Liebherr chassis technology and has five travel programmes and compressed air disc brakes. All axles are steerable, depending on speed.
