The development of a telescopic deck has extended the range of all-wheel steering semi-trailers offered by French manufacturer Nicolas Industrie. The so-called Nicolong trailers range from three to eight axle lines, varying in length from 8.5m to 11m when not telescoped and from 15m to 30 when the deck is extended.
With single or double telescoping Nicolong can also be produced with integrated dolly and inclined gooseneck, and with a hydraulic lift system to improve the spread of the payload.
Recent orders for Nicolas include one from US company Bay, of Corpus Christi, Texas, for a giant modular trailer made up of: two power packs; a pair of four-axle line self-propelled modules; a pair of four-axle line lowbed modules; and four lowbed modules of six-axle lines. Capacity of this unit is 32t per axle line.
