Heavy cranes manager Olli Väänänen says, “Ajos is a 30 megawatt wind farm project in northern Finland. The total number of wind turbines in this project is 10: five of those were erected in 2007 and the remaining five will be erected in autumn 2008. Both of the cranes are assembled on shore and then driven to a large barge, which takes the cranes to artificial islands. The LR 1750 is a perfect choice for the job since we are able to lift the relatively heavy turbine parts to a long radius without needing to use superlift equipment.”

The Ajos project is using 3MW WinWind turbines. The nacelle on each turbine weighs almost 120t and the tower is 88m high. The LR 1750 is configured with 245t + 95t counterweights and 63m + 49m boom configuration.
