Poll: If you can’t be a driver, don’t bother

Crane operators, it would appear, have the best job in the crane business, if our October-November poll about what crane job you might want for your children is anything to go by.

The most popular job for children was being a crane driver. But not by much. The second most popular career for respondents’ children was out of the crane business entirely. More than a quarter of respondents to this poll wanted their family out of the crane business.

Finally, the third point is that the job of slinger/signaller is indeed as unpopular as they might think; only one respondent wanted their kid to do that.

December’s poll, live on the web site now, asks how crane rental companies are dealing with the crane shortage.
