The eight turbines stand 80m high and were erected using a 400t-capacity Manitowoc 16000 owned by JPW Riggers of Syracuse, NY, USA.
The heaviest lifts were the 46t nacelles. To erect the towers, the crane was configured with 205t of counterweight, 89m of boom, plus an additional 7m of extended upper boom point.
According to Manitowoc HB White Canada has now specified the 16000 cranes for its future wind farm projects in Ontario and JPW Riggers has ordered a second unit for its 20-crane fleet, to be delivered in October.
