According to Natalia Kutkovich, sales director for Manitowoc Crane Group in Russia and the surrounding region, the market remains strong.
“There are still very high levels of investment in new construction in Russia, particularly retail, residential and office buildings. Our rental company customers tell us that demand is at its highest level in memory and that demand is spread across the whole country, not just limited to the major cities of Moscow and St Petersburg.”
For example, Russian rental giant Rentakran is supplying towers across Russia’s capital city. Rentakran formed in 1997 and today claims to be the largest tower crane rental company
in Russia, with a fleet of 130 units, including 118 from Potain. The company has two offices, one in Moscow and the other in Yekaterinburg, with 290 employees
on its books.
Rentakran is developing its tower crane fleet further, adding new Potains over 2007 and 2008. In addition to these, the company has also ordered its first Grove all terrain cranes, with a 100t GMK4100 and a 220t GMK5220 scheduled for delivery.
