With a special kit and a bit of space, hydraulic cranes can be converted to radio remote control

Autec’s kit is a self-contained unit that connects to the crane control rods

Italian supplier Autec’s version is the KSI, which has its own oil circuit, and is often used with the PRO-M series of joystick remotes. The device clamps to the control rods that connect the levers to the valve block. The remote’s emergency stop operates the wastegate valve that cuts the pressure of the crane’s main oil circuit.

Autec says the job is most popular for small- to medium-sized loaders.
