Magtrol
Magtrol announced a new addition to its load pin line, the LE 500 Series Load Pin for outdoor applications including lifts, cranes, hoisting gears, winches, offshore and harbor equipment.
The new pin incorporates strain gauge technology and built in test equipment (BITE) to allow electronic load pin control. The user can determine the sensor functioning, overload or short circuit by verifying the status on the electronic module. Redundant or X-Y versions are also available.
The LE 500 Series Load Pin has been designed to be compact. It complies with the latest safety and EMC/EMI (Electromagnetic Compatibility and Immunity) regulations.
Magtrol load pins are available in nine standard models ranging from 5 to 1250 kN. They are provided with a strain gauge bridge output (mV/V) or with an integrated amplifier offering a 4-20 mA two or three wire or a 0-10 VDC signal.
Magtrol offers custom designed load pins and load cells in a measuring range of up to 5000kN.
Vincinay-Irizar forge
A partnership of two Basque forges, chain manufacturer Vicinay, and hook leader Irizar, recently introduced chain forged hooks for deepwater subsea mooring systems and winches.
The partnership brings together the experience of both forges, both of which have 100 years experience producing forgings.
The subsea mooring hooks, considered chain accessories, have been certified by ABS and DNV for Brazilia shore work initially, but may also be used for multiple shore purposes.
Considered a deep water mooring system accessory, the chain hook can comply with several functions: to hook chain-ends into a structure or independent component (eye hook), to link broken chains (KS hook), to collect abandoned accessories for environmental reasons.
. They can also be used as ROV hooks, because they are on duty at depths which divers cannot reach, such as those found in some parts of the Gulf of Mexico, Brazilian shore and the Northern Sea.
Remote Operated Vehicle devices (ROV: as the popular Nautilus Robot is) are used to operate where people cannot go.
Deepwater material manufacturers and engineers are using them at 4000m depth, where there are unusual bacteria. Vicinay Innovation Division is leading a deep sea study on how these unknown conditions wild life effect its components.
Yoke Industrial Corporation
UK firm William Hackett Chains, in partnership with Yoke Corporation of Taiwan, recently designed a new flexible lifting point.
The company says its lifting points may be attached to machines in lieu of traditional eyebolts.
The lifting point allows 360 degree rotation and 90 degree pivot movement.
It keeps 100% of its load rating in all positions.
The lifting points are supplied with either metric or UNC threads in sizes M8 up to M48, and with working load limits between 650lbs and 20t. The load bolts are all grade 10.9 marked with a unique identification code.
Extended bolt lengths are available on request.
They are designed for easy installation with access to the load bearing part.
US Distributor William Hackett Chains said that the company is expected the new lifting point to complement its chain sling lifting system.
Van Beest
Dutch manufacturer Van Beest is now stocking two new types of Green Pin socket range: sockets with safety bolts and open wedge sockets with safety bolts.
The sockets can be used on construction cranes for applications such as keeping the crane upright.
The sockets are used to attach steel wire rope to a fixed point.
They are designed to meet at least the breaking strength of the steel wire rope.
Both the open spelter socket with safety bolt and open wedge socket with safety belt are made of high-tensile steel with a hot dipped galvanized finish.
Geared for working in a range of temperatures, from -20°C to +200°C, the two new models are offered with a works certificate and a proof load test certificate, as well as an EC Declaration of Conformity on request.
In September Van Beest also announced that it had further expanded its range of Green Pin sling shackles, which are bow shackles with a safety bolt into the smaller pin shackle range used in wire rope and synthetic sling applications.
Compared to the standard Green Pin shackles, sling shackles have an increased bow radius for helping resist wear and tear to slings.
These shackles now cover a range from WLL 18USt up to 1500USt.
