“Today we operate locally with two product lines: the knuckleboom cranes and the telescopic cranes, both designed for assembly on commercial trucks. The knucklebooms include 11 models in the nominal 6tm-55tm range. Ten of these are Palfinger global design, and one is Madal type for a specific market niche. This year we are offering new functionalities, such as fly jib and remote control, that allow us to create new business opportunities, based on increasing the efficiency of material handling and reducing overall costs for our clients.
“The truck mounted telescopic cranes presently offered are the MD 300 and MD 600, with capacities at 3m radius of 30t and 60t. In 2007, we added the BR 400.” The crane is based on the Sennebogen HPC 40, and is built under licence from the German manufacturer. Schaeffer called the licencing deal the “faster track to R&D of telescopic cranes.” The first unit was finished in 2006 and delivered to product launching partner, and large Brazilian crane rental firm, Makro Engenharia de Movimento. The first imported unit has been at work since mid-2006 supporting onshore drilling operations for Petrobras in the northeast of Brazil.
“The original HTC 40 received some modifications, such as an auxiliary winch and long jib version, and a Brazilian motor. We are happy with the positive response of the market. The first locally built units are already in duty.”
