The turbine measured 5.8m (20ft) high, and would have to cross 14 arch bridges on the way. And the bridges posed a major problem for the transport. The convoy was too high, and too heavy, for some essential bridges along the route. To solve the second problem, bridge reinforcements had to be installed. Unfortunately this made the first problem worse, sacrificing precious centimetres of clearance.

To get the job done, Tranzcarr resorted to buying a set of new Goldhofer heavy-duty THP/UT trailers.

“Our existing transport vehicle needs a load distribution frame for such a heavy load,” says Tranzcarr owner Dave Carr. “This enables us to do the job without a distribution frame and to obtain a loading height below 800 mm,” Carr says.
