Twoi BMS Liebherr LTM 1400 all terrain cranes support the base of a vessel at Statoil’s refinery, as a Terex-Demag CC2800-2 takes the weight from the top of the load.

As part of the construction, a 296t vacuum tower needed to be delivered from Italy by boat, and then erected at the site. BMS decided to use two LTM 1400 all-terrain cranes and a Terex-Demag CC2800-2 crawler for the lift, with a Demag AC 100 all terrain acting as a support crane. In planning the lift, BMS needed to find a way to keep the cranes as close together as possible, in order to cut the cost of excavating 3-4m down, the difference between the level of the crawler and the two all terrains. Planning the lift took months, and rigging the cranes days, but the job took only ninety minutes.
