The D5200 was specially developed for lifting huge prefabricated elements on the Maanshan Yangtze river bridge project in 2010. For the Yingwuzhou job the crane was required to lift the largest segments, which weighed around 200t. Other sections were put in place using a 1000t-floating crane.
Hu Hanzhou, general manager of Daqiaoju Company, the firm that carried out the project, said that the choice of crane was very important his company’s approach to bridge construction. Calling the D5200 ‘a direct influence on bridge design’, Hu said that using the crane ‘gigantically improved construction efficiency and project cost, and has become an integral part of our core competitiveness.’
