SMIE will be showing its new AC246 anti-collision system, designed in anticipation of the new European tower crane safety norm, pr EN14439. The AC246 integrates the required failsafe features, and permits the management of interference between cranes on multi-crane sites, and protects sensitive zones for up to 30 cranes.

SMIE has included mechanical protection of gears, a failsafe slew sensor, software with evolved auto-test procedures, and an operator display with test button for periodical tests, in line with the new norm.

SMIE has adopted a more ergonomic approach in the design of all its new products and the AC246, with the moulded exterior of its operator display, is no exception to the rule. Other than the aesthetic aspects, SMIE has also revised its slew sensor in order to optimise the number of components.

SMIE will show the latest generation of its dataloggers, the SGC240. The SGC240 distinguishes between saddle jib cranes and luffing cranes. It is compatible with the SMIE AC243 anti-collision system with wireless or cable connection, and it can monitor and log events for up to 20 cranes.

Other new products include the DLZ 341, a new display, data logger and zoning system for use in the operator’s cabin. Data logged by the DLZ 341 can be transferred to a computer by using a USB flash key and presented in the form of spreadsheets and graphics, making it easy to analyse on a desktop computer with spreadsheet software. The DLZ 341 also integrates a system of work zone limitation management, which is easily programmable.
