The Jascon 25 is one of the first offshore pipe lay/crane/construction vessels built according to a new hybrid design philosophy. The barge has an 800t capacity main crane with heave compensation, a dynamic positioning system, modular S-lay pipelay system, types of pipelaying, 1,000 sq m deck and accommodation for 355 people.
Jacques Roomans, President & CEO of the Sea Trucks Group said: “We are extremely proud to take delivery of the Jascon 25, the first pipelay/construction vessel in the Sea Trucks Group fleet suitable for the deeper water regions, and the second vessel (Jascon 30 was recently delivered) built according to our unique hybrid design concept, based on the successful Jascon 5, which was delivered in Singapore four years ago.”
Another three vessels are also being built to a similar design. They are the Jascon 34, delivery expected mid-2009, the Jascon 18, delivery expected the second half of 2009, and the Jascon 35, delivery expected in the second half of 2010.
After successful sea trials Jascon 25 will start its first contract in Western Australia for BHP Billiton in the Pyrenees oilfield development project, performed by Seastream, the joint venture between the Sea Trucks Group and Wellstream International Ltd, manufacturer of flexible pipe products.
