A battery-powered industrial crane has proved its worth at work at the Birkenhead Transport Museum, Merseyside, in the UK. The 11t-rated Valla, a new addition to the fleet of GWS Industrial Cranes, was needed for placing prestressed concrete units. “At Birkenhead, there was only 4m headroom in the train shed,” explained GWS manager Martin Stevens. “In enclosed spaces like this diesel engines generate fumes which can quickly build up and prevent work.”
