Mitchell combines a background in one of Australia’s biggest crane operators, Brambles, with a track record for turning troubled companies around. He worked in a number of senior management roles at Brambles for 12 years. Brambles was one of Australia’s largest rental fleet owners, before being broken up. Over recent years, Boom has purchased a number of former Brambles businesses.

In 2004, Mitchell went on from working with Brambles to join Cleanaway, in the UK, where, Boom says, he was responsible for turning the business around. Boom Chairman, John Robinson said: “Brenden’s background in managing people and equipment in a complex, margin critical services business, will bring the required focus and experience to Boom’s operations. Boom’s unique exposure to the resources, large-scale infrastructure and construction sectors continues to underpin the strength and prospects of our business and Brenden’s appointment ensures we have the right management team in place going forward.”
