A 5t stone statue of Admiral Nelson in Birmingham, UK has been removed from its site as part of an £800m ($1200m) redevelopment project. Hewden Crane Hire lifted the statue out of the Birmingham “Bullring” centre with an 80t capacity Demag AC 205.

Lifting started at 6am and was a delicate operation that required much patience and skill. The statue had to be carefully chiselled from its base to allow the crane to lift and place it for road transport.

Work was completed within schedule and Hewden depot manager Syd Cooper said: “Hopefully we can look forward to Admiral Nelson returning once the new development is completed”.
