Alliance Riggers & Constructors, based in El Paso, Texas, USA, has taken delivery of an LR 1280, its sixth Liebherr in the space of four years.
The LR 1280 is a 280t capacity crawler crane made by Liebherr Nenzing in Austria.
Alliance bought its first Liebherr at Conexpo 1999, a 250t LR 1250 crawler. It subsequently bought a LR 853 ( 90t) and an LR 1160 (160t), as well as a 200t and 160t all terrain, LTM 1200/1 and LTM 1160/2.
“In the last three years, six of the seven cranes we’ve purchased that have been Liebherr,” said Phillip Cordova, CEO and general manager of the family owned business. “We had outstanding service from the first one, and backup and support from the Liebherr guys was tremendous, so it led us to buy five more. We call with a technical problem, and Liebherr has a service technician on the next flight out to take care of it. The availability of the machine was probably 99.9%.” Alliance Riggers was created in 1977 as a spin-off from El Paso Crane & Rigging, a business started by Phillip Cordova and his father in 1974. It has a fleet of 30 machines, including Link Belts and Manitowocs as well as the Liebherrs. Alliance Riggers is a precast and steel erection company that also provides crane services.
