A lightweight portable gantry range, developed by Reid Lifting, is aimed at the engineering and construction industries. The Porta-Gantry was developed in collaboration with the structural engineering department of Cardiff University in Wales to optimise strength to weight ratios.
The gantries are made from high tensile alloy extrusions that are 70% lighter than mild steel, the manufacturer says, and have 20% greater tensile strength.
Porta-Gantries are offered with capacities of 500kg, 1t, 2t and 3t. They are ‘completely portable and can be assembled by two people’, according to director Jim Reid.
Reid says: ‘Its lightweight portability and the enormous strength of Porta-Gantry will mean that it can be used in a variety of new application areas, particularly in confined spaces where there is no room for lifting equipment to put up a steel gantry’.
