Anthony Crane Rental, the largest crane hire company in North America, and the various companies that it has acquired in recent years, has been renamed Maxim Crane Works.
Anthony has doubled in size since Bain Capital took an 80% stake in the company in 1998, according to new chief executive Jeff Fenton who joined the company in October 1999 from GE Capital.
Last year Anthony took over Husky Crane of California, Dunn Equipment of Texas, Carlisle Equipment of Kentucky, AAA Crane of California and Capitol Crane of Indiana. In the first three months of this year it has taken over Sacramento Valley Crane Services of California and Kings Crane Service, based in Ohio.
All the companies will now trade under the name Maxim Crane Works. The announcement was made at the annual conference of the Specialised Carriers & Rigging Association in April, held in Napa, California. “Our new name will unify our growing branch network which provides the reach and scope that today’s customer demands,” said Fenton. “Our geographic expansion will continue and so will the service and commitment to quality that has built a reputation as the crane supplier of choice.”
Maxim employs more than 2,000 people at 46 branches across the USA. It comprises five regional divisions plus three national divisions.
