Cattron-Theimeg UK has developed an anti-collision device for overhead cranes. The Ultraguard will warn of an approaching object, then slow down and eventually stop the crane and prevent it colliding with the object. Ultraguard uses coded transmission and flight time measurement to detect other cranes, end walls or any other impending dangers to the crane. Cattron claims that the system will not only improve safety, but increase productivity and operator confidence.
