Baldwins Industrial Services of the UK has appointed a vice president business development officer for its USA operations. William Creighton, aged 43, joins from Exelon, where he was vice president, corporate marketing and sales since last year. Previously he was vice president, business development at Raytheon, Houston and before that was director, sales and marketing at Fluor Daniel in Houston..

Of Baldwins total group turnover of £76.2m ($115m) in the year to 31 March 2001, almost a third was derived from its international business, principally in US dollars. Last year, US and international business increased 200 per cent to £24.9m compared with £8.4m in 2000 and £1.7m in 1999.

Commenting on the appointment, Richard Baldwin, chairman and chief executive of Baldwins said: “William has extensive experience in the support services, distribution, gas, petroleum, utilities, engineering and construction industries. He has had a highly successful career at a number of large, blue chip multinational corporations across a range of business disciplines and has excellent contacts in Houston and the Gulf States.

“I am pleased that he will be working alongside me in developing further the group’s business in the US and Texas, which has continued to expand from its hub in Houston and along the coast with new equipment, new depots, and sales offices giving us state-wide presence and the potential for further development in specialist niche industries.”
