News of the appointment broke during the first day of the SC&RA’s annual workshop in San Diego. Bardonaro, the association’s chairman, spoke to Cranes Today between meetings. Describing his long history working on the rental side of the industry, with AmQuip and, previously, as operations manager of Maxim, Bardonaro said, “I know the key issue on the rental side is repairs; I aim to make Terex the market leader in the support side.”

Bardonaro, speaking with former colleagues in the rental industry, said that one of his first moves will be to invite participation in user groups, with the aim of making Terex’s cranes more user friendly.

Bardonaro’s predecessor, Marco Gentilini, is well suited for the integration project role. Prior to heading up Terex Cranes in the Americas, he was responsible for Terex’s Italian rough terrain business, at that time sold under the Bendini badge. In recent years, Terex executives have spoken repeatedly of the company’s desire to more closely integrate cranes designed and manufactured at its rough terrain plants in Crespellano, Italy, and Waverley, North America. The appointment of Gentilini to the new position suggests this remains a priority for the company.

Rick Nichols, president of Terex Cranes, said, “We are extremely pleased that Frank Bardonaro is joining Terex Cranes. Coming from the distribution and operational side of our industry, Frank’s considerable knowledge will be a great asset to our Terex team as we develop even stronger dealer and customer relationships supported by superior aftermarket services. Frank will play an important leadership role as we continue building the Terex Cranes brand and our product offerings. He will have direct responsibility for the Americas region, and will oversee the general managers who lead operations within the United States.”
