The firm’s new Illinois premises will provide access to rail routes and waterways allowing transport by river barge. In addition it will include 72,000sq ft of industrial warehouse and storage space.

Barnhart believes the move 50 miles to the east of its former premises will leave it better placed and equipped to handle more demanding special transport jobs.

Commenting on the branch’s new location more central to its customer base, Barnhart Crane and Rigging’s Chicago branch manager, Matt Brennan, said: “We are now within just a few miles of some of the region’s biggest industrial sites. It goes without saying, but Northern Illinois and the Three Rivers area is vital to the economy. We hope to play a role in the strengthening of that economy.

“Our new site offers many advantages. We think those benefits will be quickly realized by our customers.”
