Barnhart, an American logistics firm, was contracted to use a Goldhofer trailer to transport the power transformer along 27 miles of I-95, the main motorway on the East Coast.
However, the 8m height of the transformer presented a challenge as it prevented it from being hauled through overpasses on the motorway.
Barnhart built a temporary bypass over each of the small rivers, some of which were 30m across.
Crossing the rivers required Barnhart to use temporary 18m barge ramps, a 9m bridge jumpers, and 34m bridge jumpers. The firm used three heavy prime movers.
While both overpasses and creeks made the transport difficult, the transformer was delivered with no delays.
