IMT has introduced the Commander IV field service vehicle, featuring the 14K160 Tirehandler. The Tirehandler is designed to handle tyre sizes up to 55/80-63 weighing up to 6,350kg (14,000 pounds).
The device has a clamping span of 1.4m to 4.1m (55 inches to 160 inches), and the Tirehandler body rotates 270°, allowing for proper valve stem and mounting stud alignment. The clamping pads have a starburst tooth pattern, designed to maximise gripping ability. The clamping pads rotate 90° and are designed with a teardrop area for demounting rim flange and beadseat band components.
For easy assembly and disassembly of rim components, the clamping pads incorporate an area for mounting attachments. A boom tip linkage system allows the Tirehandler to articulate 133°.
The Tirehandler body is designed to keep the clamping pads parallel to each other, and a positive locking switch controls the clamping arms, preventing accidental release of the tire. To prevent sudden cylinder collapse caused by hose failures, all of the hydraulic cylinders include integral mounted counterbalance valves. The Tirehandler is also equipped with quick-release hoses and large line-bored mounting pins for easy installation and removal.
