Bigge Crane & Rigging of California USA is moving into the tower crane rental business.

It has already bought four top slewing cranes from Terex Comedil and has now added a 36m-jib self-erector, also from Comedil.

There are now about 30 tower cranes at work in the Bay area of California, said brothers Reid and Weston Settlemier (whose family owns Bigge). The Settlemiers plan to buy “at least a dozen, maybe 20” towers in the near future.

Bigge subsidiary Galena Equipment has also signed up as a distributor for Liebherr Nenzing crawler cranes, covering the northwest and Rocky Mountain states.

Liebherr Nenzing has California, along with Nevada, and Arizona, covered by Coastline, part of the Bragg group.
