BMS general manager Søren Jansen said, “We have seen a lot of customers who, in the past, used telehandlers for lifting. They wanted the minicrane as a replacement. On a lot of projects, people have seen the advantages of the minicane. It’s fast for us to get them in to small projects, and they can handle a lot of different loads.
“Telehandlers are a multipurpose machine, while the minicrane is a lifting tool: you can use a telehandler for lifting, but the minicranes are a better lifting tool.
“We can supply operators. On small cranes, customers don’t normally want operators, but they do on the larger cranes.”
Unic Cranes Europe said that the initial 19 crane contract includes 3 x URW-706’s, 2 x URW-295’s and 14 x 376’s. The company has already delivered nine machines, with the remainder due in February of next year. Another three machines are also on order.
All the machines will be painted in BMS’ distinctive green and white livery and will be distributed among the company’s six rental depots across Denmark. The mini cranes will expand the company’s hire fleet of 125 mobile cranes and over 1000 access lifts.
Jakob Lysdahl of Lissner commented: “This is one of the biggest mini crane deals made in Europe and shows the strength of the Unic brand. Product reliability together with after sales service are key for major players in the rental market. Our set up in Denmark together with the huge support we have from the Unic Cranes Europe network and the proven reliability of the crane were the key factors in helping us beat off strong competition to win this deal.”
