THE BOXMAG Rapid trade name and intellectual property rights to magnets for process, mineral and industrial applications have been acquired by Eriez Magnetics Europe, Bedwas South Wales for an undisclosed sum.
What used to be the Boxmag Rapid company has been renamed Antar Equipment Ltd following the sale in June. Antar has retained the lifting magnet side of the 101 year-old business. Much of the magnet business is the circular type for loose materials such as scrap, but plate and slab handling magnets are also manufactured, installed, maintained and rebuilt.
Under development is what Antar operations director Mark Stone describes as a new breed of cast lifting magnets. that will be new magnets at the price of used ones, to be achieved by outsourcing some components from abroad.
Also retained by Antar is a specialist fabrication company. Since the end of last year Antar has been designing and building concrete batching plants and the company manufactures for Eriez on a sub-contract basis. Antar has a new phone number – (+44) 121 359 5060 – but remains at the same address in Birmingham, UK.
