The 600t Terex Demag CC 2800-1 crane was handed over in Zweibrücken at the end of June; a second one will be delivered soon. The machine is equipped with a 138m main boom (SSL/LSL/SGLmax), an 84m main boom extension and sideways superlift. Managing director Matthias Wasel said, “The CC 2800-1 is the defining model in its class as well as the market leader. What swayed the decision for us was its great flexibility. There is currently no other 600t crawler crane available that offers so many effective configurations for very varied applications.“

It features as an optional extra a hydraulic quick-connect system that enables the superstructure and carriage to be connected and disconnected in only a few minutes. The crane has a lightweight 24m fixed fly jib (LF2) and wide track shoes, each 2m across. This is an advantage in situations such as the erection of wind power plants, since less pressure is put on the subsoil.

The crane will spend its first year working at Germany’s largest power plant construction site in Grevenbroich-Neurath, where RWE Power AG is building the world’s largest lignite-fired power station.

Breuer & Wasel, based at Bergheim in Germany, has a workforce of 280 employed at six locations. The business was founded in 1970 by Matthias Wasel Sr. Since 1998, Matthias Wasel Jr and his brother Thomas have represented the second generation of the family to help run the company, which has 235 vehicles and machines in use all over Europe. The fleet includes 100 mobile, lattice boom and crawler cranes with lifting capacities of up to 1,000t.

In addition, the company’s tower crane division has 340 construction cranes and top and bottom slewing tower cranes with capacities of up to 630tm.
