A new railway bridge was installed in a single 1,100t section in August at Goettingen near Hannover, Germany. The work was part of a project by German rail authority Deutsche Bahn to renovate the Halle to Hannoversch-Münden rail corridor. The steel bridge, complete with track bed and rails, was prefabricated alongside the existing rail line. It was then was shifted 33m over to new foundation structures and set in place. Contractor Scholpp Montage carried out the two day operation on 3 and 4 August using eight of its Lift-Systems gantry units to support the 44m long bridge, four on each side. Each set of four was linked with load distributing spreader bars.
