The crane has a 64ft 5in (19.6m) four-section, full power boom as well as a compact boom head. It also has a 20ft boom extension that offsets at 0°, 15°, and 30°; the maximum sheave height with the boom extension is 88ft 9in (27m).
The IC-280-A features a two-speed hoist with 12,500lb bare drum line pull with a maximum line speed of 186ft per minute, maintaining good hook speed when multi-part reeving is used on the crane.
A third (mid-extension) position was added to the out-and-down outriggers, which according to Broderson enables more setup flexibility and better utilisation of the crane capacity in tight workspaces.
Removable 11in diameter nylon outrigger shoes are standard to this model, while 20in diameter shoes are optional when a lower outrigger ground bearing pressure is needed.
Cummins 120HP QSF3.8, US EPA Tier 4F diesel or GM 5.7L V8 LPG are the engine options for the crane; a global diesel engine option will be available in 2021. Four-wheel steer/two-wheel drive (4×2) is the standard drive configuration and four-wheel drive/four-wheel steer (4×4) is optional. The engine coupled with a four-speed powershift transmission offer maximum travel speed of 18mph, maximum drawbar pull of 18,100lbs, and maximum calculated gradeability of 64%.
With the newly integrated telematics, owners will be able to access location, operating hours, utilisation, engine and maintenance information through both online and mobile platforms.
