The 21 LC 290 is being used in the historic centre of Brussels to transform the former Prince Albert barracks into luxury apartments.

It has been erected with a 60m under hook height and a 60m-long jib, and will be used to move 3t prefabricated components of the build.

The Prince Albert barracks are located close to the Place du Grand Sablon and the Palais de justice de Bruxelles courthouse, with the redevelopment due for completion in 2010.

It is the first time Brualfa, the Spanish manufacturer’s dealer in Benelux, has erected a 21 LC 290. It was assembled in less than two days by a team of five technical personnel from Brualfa, who were hampered by the cold conditions in the Belgian capital and administrative centre of the EU.

“The conception of this crane allows a one-day erection,” says Brualfa. “It has been our first assembly of this crane, so we will do better from now on.

“The glacial cold and snow made the work much harder.”
